HOME INVASION
May 13, 2008, 10:05 PM
Callers reported suspicious persons at a home in the 2700 block of Kenilworth. Police met with a female victim who told them she heard someone knock at the front door. When the woman looked out the window, she saw a stranger on her stairs—a man holding a bottle of antifreeze. The woman said “No” to indicate she did not wish to open the door to him. Soon afterward came a second knock. This time, when the victim looked out, she saw a second man, so she called police. She saw the first man flee northbound on foot, and saw the second man walk westbound through her gangway. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle occupied by three men leaving the 2700 block of Clinton/Kenilworth alley at that time.

Police were sent back to the same address. This time, the caller reported a forced entry into the house. Police spoke with another woman victim, who said a man kicked in the side door and got into the house, so she and her adult daughter ran out the front door. The mother injured her ankle while fleeing, so an ambulance was summoned. The daughter told police that, as she fled through the front door, she saw a second man run inter her gangway. She said as she ran away, she heard a male voice shout, “Kill the bitch!”
A witness who heard yelling in front of the house said he looked out and saw four men, one running through the gangway. The side door was damaged from being forced, police were able to find shoe and fingerprints. The daughter said the offender who broke into the house was a male black in his 20s, 6’ tall, average build, wearing jeans and a blue-striped polo shirt. She told police she could identify him, and wished to assist in creating a composite image. Neighboring witnesses provided descriptions of the other men seen in front of the house.
