Berwyn Police Blotter
Hit-and-run at Ridgeland and Roosevelt
July 2, 2008, 3:19 PM
The victim of a hit-and-run collision at Roosevelt and Ridgeland described the driver and offending vehicle. Police located the offending auto parked behind a residence in the 1500 block of Grove, with front-end damage consistent with what you might expect in such a crash. As police and victim waited for tow truck for the damaged vehicle, a woman passed by on foot, pushing a stroller and followed by three children. Police later saw the same group on 16th, at the opening of the 1500 block of Grove/Oak Park alley, looking north toward the offending vehicle. When the tow truck arrived, the owner of the offending vehicle said someone else was driving it earlier. After that, the woman with the stroller and children approached police and admitted involvement. Police arrested Rosalina Maldonado, 28, of the 1500 block of Grove, for failure to yield, driving without license or insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident. Maldonado’s license expired more than two years earlier.
