May 13, 2007, 5:42 AM
Police went to the 1200 block of Highland to check on a disturbance involving a gun. On the way to the scene, they were told by dispatchers that a shot had been fired, and the suspect fled southbound on Highland. An officer spotted a man walking southbound on Highland, and stopped Chicagoan Jesus R. Silva, age 26. An 18-year-old woman involved in the disturbance told police Silva was her boyfriend. She said she and Silva argued, then Silva pushed her down, climbed on her chest and punched her in the nose, leaving it visibly injured. According to the victim, while she was being beaten a shirtless man with a gun ran down the street yelling “Get off her!”, causing the boyfriend to flee. Silva was identified by fingerprints and charged with one count of domestic battery. The victim said she did not know the gun-wielding man.
