Felony squad-car damage

Police came to the 15th and Grove after calls reporting a “juvenile running with a knife.” En route to the scene, dispatchers said calls came in reporting a group of “people holding bricks” on 15th between Oak Park and Grove. Once at the scene, police arrested 19-year-old Esmeralda Sontoyo, of the 1500 block of Grove, and placed her in squad car #114. While inside the squad car, Sontoyo kicked the back driver’s side window with both feet. Police asked her to stop doing that, but it was too late: the window was already damaged. The damage estimate was $814.49. Sontoyo was charged with one felony count of criminal damage to government property.
