Felony DUI charges for Cicero driver
January 29, 2008, 11:09 AM
An officer stopped a purple Dodge Caravan after seeing it swerve into oncoming traffic while northbound in the 2100 block of East. Other cars were forced to swerve also, in order to avoid a collision. When asked to show his license and proof of insurance, driver Gilberto Garzon, 36, of Cicero, handed the officer his whole wallet. He appeared intoxicated and failed several field sobriety tests. A check of his name showed his license had been revoked for a previous DUI offense. Garzon’s blood alcohol level was .267, more than three times the legal limit of .08. After being read his rights, Garzon told police he had been drinking at a house near 28th and Oak Park since 4:30 OM the previous day, and drank all night instead of going to sleep. He was charged with felony DUI without a license and felony DUI without insurance; additional citations included driving on a revoked license, DUI, DUI over .08, improper lane use and no insurance.
