Felony burglary charges after safe, laptop & plasma TV taken from ransacked home
August 19, 2008, 10:25 AM
A Cicero police detective working a burglary case contacted Berwyn police after a burglary call turned out to have begun in Berwyn. On August 18 at 11:50 PM, Cicero police, responding to a burglary-in-progress call, came to the 1800 block of 59th Ct in Cicero and found three males standing in front of a residence, next to a Chevy Lumina. One was a 16-year-old juvenile, who was later released. A second subject, 21-year-old Josue Ramirez, 21, of the 4300 block of south Hermitage, Chicago, told police he was helping the third subject move some property.
The third person, Anthony D. Hernandez, 30, of the 1400 block of Home, told officers he had Ramirez drive him to the 3400 block of Grove to the home of his stepmother. There, he said, he climbed in through the bedroom window and removed a safe, a laptop and a plasma TV. He told police he was aware that none of those items belonged to him.
The victim, a 38-year-old woman, told police Hernandez had been told as long as five years ago that he was unwelcome at the Grove address.
Hernandez and Ramirez were each charged with one count of felony burglary. Berwyn detectives notified the Illinois Dept. of Corrections, since Hernandez had recently been paroled following a burglary charge.
