Berwyn Police Blotter
Failed tests of counting, sobriety
June 10, 2007, 2:50 AM
A concerned citizen following a black 2005 BMW convertible westbound on 16th called police when the car entered a one-way street northbound—the wrong way on a one-way. An officer spotted the BMW on Roosevelt, driving on the median. When asked for license and insurance proof, driver Julia M. Taylor, 38, of Indianapolis, responded, “I have to go to the bathroom.” Asked again for her license, she did not hand it to the officer but said “It’s in my purse.”. Once out of the car, she staggered and smelled of alcohol, as noted by three cops on the scene. Asked how much she had to drink, she said “two drinks”. She failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content of .213, nearly triple the legal limit. Taylor was cited for DUI, DUI with a BAC over.08, improper lane use, no insurance and failure to notify the secretary of state on a change of address.
