Ex-wife,cronies charged after reportedly chasing, beating man

February 23, 2008, 10:30 PM
A woman who accused her ex-husband of violating an order of protection called police to say the man was at the gas station at 16th and Ridgeland.  Arriving police saw the man, with one shoe and no coat.  When the man saw police, he ran toward them, apparently for protection.
When asked why she was in her husband’s neighborhood, the woman said she had been drinking with a 34-year-old Maywood man and a 36-year-old man—related to the ex—of Hillside, when all three decided to visit the ex-husband in the 1600 block of Ridgeland to retrieve papers the woman thought he stole from her.  The woman said she rang the bell and confronted him, then he punched her in the face.
But the ex-husband said the woman’s companions hit him, and the woman herself kicked him, so he ran to escape their clutches.  The husband’s kinsman was charged and his ex-wife were charged with domestic battery
