DUI hit and run leaves two injured people and a messed-up light pole

February 22, 2008, 5:57 PM
Police called to the scene of a hit-and-run crash came to the 6500 block of Ogden and found a GMC Suv up on a sidewalk, having crashed into a light pole.  Witnesses pointed out the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated.  Two injured victims, who had been in another vehicle, were taken to the hospital.  The witnesses told police they saw the GMC swerve all over the road, then crash into a red car.  The GMC fled westbound until it struck the light pole.  The GMC’s driver, 35-year-old Ricardo “Ricky” Guardiola, of the 1900 block of west 22nd Place, Chicago, was unable to stand up without assistance.  When asked where he lives, he replied, “I don’t know where I live.” He failed several field sobriety tests.  Guardiola was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to render aid and information.
