April 29, 2008, 5:49 PM
A caller reported a garage burglary in progress in the 2700 block of Clarence. The caller told police he knew the offenders—a 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman—and provided their address in the 5800 block of west 28th in Cicero. The man was seen inside the garage at the Clarence address, and the woman was seen driving as they left the scene in a black Oldsmobile. When police arrived, they found the garage window had been forced open. Surveillance of the Cicero address began. When the Oldsmobile pulled up, the woman was still driving and reaching under the driver’s seat. Police arrested the man and the woman. Under the driver’s seat were a glass crack pipe and a clear baggie containing a 0.4 gram chunk of cocaine. On the car’s center console lay a cigarette pack containing a marijuana pipe with pot residue as well as 0.5 grams of pot. The Olds was held for possible forfeiture. Further search of the vehicle revealed items the burglary victims said were from the garage. They included a shop vac, power tools, CDs, a red gas can, a dinner set and a chocolate fountain. The investigation continues.
