Driver hauling malt liquor leaves spinny-rim Chevy behind after crash, coverup try
September 13, 2008, 10:05 PM
Witnesses told police a white Chevy Lumina, Il. license X99 9909, hit a parked black Dodge Avenger on 23rd near the alley. The driver, witnesses said, approached them and asked them to help him push the vehicle off the road before police arrived. The witnesses refused, so the man fled on foot southbound from 23rd through the Cuyler-Highland alley.
The witnesses told police they have seen the Chevy around numerous times, and saw it earlier the same day, filled with multiple occupants. The Lumina was impounded. Inside was a 6-pack of Smirnoff malt liquor, with four unopened bottles, lying on the floor behind the driver’s seat. The trunk contained subwoofers. The car also had “spinner” rims.
Witnesses described the offender as a male Hispanic, 5’6”, with a shaved head, wearing a green shirt and blue jeans.
