Defective-equipment stops catch unlicensed drivers

May 14, 2008, 2 AM
A silver Mustang was stopped at Cermak and Grove because it had only one head light, and also because it changed lanes without using a turn signal.  Driver Israel Pizana, 25, of Cicero, had no license or insurance.  He was ticketed for all four offenses.

A white Ford Explorer with no front plate and a cracked windshield was curbed at Ridgeland and Cermak.  Driver Brenda P. Cruz, 23, of Cicero, told the officer she had no license or insurance with her, and suggested those items had been left in her other pants.  But a computer check of her name showed she did not possess a license to drive.  Cruz was cited for driving unlicensed, no insurance and the missing front plate.
