Citizen alerts police to suspicious male on Home

August 28, 2007, 2:38 PM
A caller told police a man was following an elderly woman north on Home from 18th.  An officer came and saw a man walking north behind an 86-year-old woman with a shoulder bag; he stopped when he noticed police.  A second officer approached the woman, who had been unaware of the man behind her, and she got home safely. A witness reported seeing the man walk north along the parkway of Home, look into each parked car, then start following the woman.  The witness feared he was about to see a purse-snatching, so he called police.  An officer stopped the man, 17-year-old Anthony J. Wilson of Maywood.  Wilson explained his presence by saying his cousin dropped him off to visit a friend in the 1800 block of Home, but the friend was not there.  Wilson stated he was not doing anything wrong, also repeating several times, “What the f---?” and “What the f--- is this?”.  He carried no ID and had to be identified by his fingerprints.  He was cited for disorderly conduct.
