Cicero man charged with felony DVD piracy

May 24, 2008, 6:37 PM
Callers reported a man in a black baseball cap was selling pirated DVDs to patrons of a business in the 6400 block of Ogden.  Police confronted the man, who identified himself as Jose Martin Melchor-Granados, 31, of Cicero.  When told of the complaint, Melchor-Granados reportedly said he was just selling ice cream from his car.  Police recovered a black and blue bag, next to the man, which contained more than 100 movies, including several new releases still playing in theaters. Titles included Ironman and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.  Police ultimately recovered more than 300 discs.  Melchor-Granados reportedly admitted they were his and that he tried to sell them.  He was charged with two felony counts unlawful use of sound or audio visual recording.
