Chicago man stopped for DUI
May 17, 2007, 4:01 AM
At Ogden and Harlem, a green sedan with temporary plates was seen speeding eastbound while weaving between lanes. An officer, with emergency lights activated, tried to stop the car, but it continued to speed eastward, weaving between lanes without signaling before making an unsafe turn northbound onto Home. During that turn, the car narrowly missed hitting the rear of a stopped tractor trailer. The officer was able to pull the car over at 36th and Home. Driver Samuel Guerrero, 31, of the 1000 block of S. Mayfield, Chicago, had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and difficulty locating his license in his wallet. When asked, he could not recall how many drinks he had consumed, and he failed numerous field sobriety tests. At the police station, his blood alcohol level was determined to be .114—higher than the legal limit of .08. He was cited for DUI, reckless driving, improper lane usage, not signaling turns or lane changes, making an improper turn, not having a front license plate and not wearing a seatbelt.
