Bouncers from 26th St. bars assist in roundup of disorderly folk
May 3, 2008, 2:27 AM
An officer patrolling near 26th and Highland heard a bottle break, then another. Next, he saw someone run past his car. The officer ordered the person to stop but the man fled on foot southbound across 26th. After a brief chase, the officer caught him. As he arrested the man, a bouncer from El Corral bar offered his assistance and detained a second man trying to flee. A male victim, who was bleeding from the head, appeared and told the officer the two detainees hit him with a bottle for no apparent reason. The victim said he was standing outside with a family member when the two men walked by. The taller one, he said, hit him across the side of the head with a bottle; he positively identified one of the detainees as his attacker. As he fell, the victim said, the other man threw a beer bottle at him. A bouncer from La Ultima Copa bar told police the two offenders had been ejected from that bar after proving troublesome and aggressive. The bouncer from El Corral witnessed the bottle incident. Police charged Emmanuel Granados Rangel, 24, of Cicero with battery and obstruction. The second man was charged with disorderly conduct.
