Berwyn Police Blotter

Boots & brain:  store separately

January 6, 2010, 6:11 PM
A 34-yar-old beating victim told police that, on New Year’s Eve, he was playing pool at Guadalajara restaurant on Cermak with a man he knew only as “Flaco”.  After the game, five friends of “Flaco” entered the bar and invited the victim to travel with them to a second bar in Cicero.  The group traveled in a newer Cadillac SUV to a place called “Isabella’s” on Central.  There they stayed until 1 AM, when they left in the SUV.  “Flaco” got out of the SUV after a few blocks, leaving in a second vehicle.  The victim and the five men remained in the Cadillac, headed for the victim’s home in the 1900 block of Clinton.  An argument began, and at 21st and Clinton, the driver stopped the SUV and pulled the victim outside.  The five men—all wearing cowboy or work boots—began to punch and kick the victim’s entire body.  After the beating, the offenders fled in the Cadillac.  The victim went to MacNeal hospital, where it was determined he had a brain injury; he was not released from the hospital until January 6th.  He told police he can identify the offenders.
