Berwyn Police Blotter

Blown stop, marijuana bags

April 26, 2008, 6:44 PM
An officer at 15th and Ridgeland saw a maroon GMC Envoy disregard the stop sign at the intersection, so he stopped the SUV.  A smell of marijuana issued from the driver’s window.  Driver Fabian J. Smith, 26, of the 1000 block of north Lawler, Chicago, told the officer, “I got some weed under the seat.” Police recovered two plastic baggies of suspected marijuana from the vehicle.  A check of Smith’s name showed his license had been revoked.  He was charged with disregarding the stop sign, driving uninsured and driving despite the revoked license.  He also received a $300 ticket for possession of 10 to 20 grams of marijuana.
