April 20, 2008, 12:59 AM
Police responding to a disturbance at Selena’s bar, 6320 26th, were met by bouncers who said the three offenders had just fled the scene. Still present was a 22-year-old Cicero man, bleeding badly from the back of the head after being struck with a pool cue. The victim told police he could identify his attacker. Police located a man just a few doors away from the bar; he was positively identified as the offender, both by the victim and by bar bouncers. During the arrest, police noticed the alleged offender try several times to make gestures toward the victim and the bouncers. While being handcuffed, the man spontaneously said, “You wanna know why he got smacked? He’s the guy that split my head open a few months ago. That’s why he got smacked!” Then, while being placed in the squad car, the offender said to the victim, in Spanish, “When I see you again, I’m going to kill you.” This remarks was witnessed and noted by a Spanish-speaking officer. Police charged a 33-year-old man from the 6500 block of 28th Place with battery. Another man, age 26, was charged with aggravated battery.
