Battery in 1300 block of Oak Park leads to discovery of cocaine, burgled items
May 24, 2008, 4:24 AM
Police responded to a complaint of battery in the west alley behind the 1300 block of Oak Park. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was bleeding from the lip. His older brother was detaining a third man on the ground. The victim said he and his brother were by their garage when the offender approached them, said “What’s up?” and socked the victim in the mouth. When the brother assisted him to the ground, many CDs came out of the offender’s pockets, scattering in the alley. Police arrested Robert Carrithers, 21, of the 1300 block of Clinton, for battery. An inventory of Carrithers’ property recovered a clear baggie inside his wallet, which contained 0.7 grams of cocaine. He was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
