Bagel shop owner faces down suspicious character
April 25, 2008, 11:47 AM
The owner of a bagel shop at Roosevelt and Wesley told police that two weeks ago, two men entered his shop, ordered one bagel, and behaved in a suspicious manner. On April 25, at 11:30 AM, a grey Pontiac Grand Prix pulled up a few doors from the shop—despite several open spaces directly in front—and one of the same suspicious men entered. Just before entering, the owner said, the man put his hands inside his shirt as if he had a weapon. When the man approached the counter, the owner stepped behind him. At this, the man removed his hands from his shirt. He ordered one bagel, then walked back to the Pontiac, while looking at the owner “like he was going to do something.” The suspicious man was described as a male black in his 20s with medium-length hair, a goatee, a black baseball jersey and blue jeans. The passenger seen in the Pontiac was described as a heavy male black in his 20s. The owner said they were the same pair from the earlier incident. They drove away westbound on Roosevelt.
