Berwyn Police Blotter
Accident features underage DUI with .167 blood alcohol
November 17, 2007, 4:56 PM
An Olds Delta 88 with temporary plates, eastbound on 19th, hit several parked cars without stopping. Police found the offending vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Wisconsin, with heavy front-end damage. The driver had a strong odor of alcohol. Parts of the Olds’ grille were found at the scene of the collisions, along with an Olds emblem missing from the offending car. Driver Javier T. Mora, 18, of the 1800 block of Wisconsin, failed three field sobriety tests. Police tried to read him his rights, but Mora fell asleep. Efforts to wake him failed; he was confused and unresponsive to questions. Later, presumably when Mora was more alert, he was charged with improper lane use, no license on his person, no insurance, DUI, and DUI with a blood alcohol level of .167, over twice the legal limit of .08.
