Woman’s ex shows up to battle his replacement

Callers alerted police to a fight outside a house in the 1400 block of Harvey. A woman there said her old boyfriend showed up and picked a fight on the patio with her new boyfriend. The ex was sent on his way.
Drugs, stolen goods found after car leaves burglary scene

A caller reported a garage burglary in progress in the 2700 block of Clarence. The caller told police he knew the offenders—a 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman—and provided their address in the 5800 block of west 28th in Cicero. The man was seen inside the garage at the Clarence address, and the woman was seen driving as they left the scene in a black Oldsmobile. When police arrived, they found the garage window had been forced open. Surveillance of the Cicero address began. When the Oldsmobile pulled up, the woman was still driving and reaching under the driver’s seat. Police arrested the man and the woman. Under the driver’s seat were a glass crack pipe and a clear baggie containing a 0.4 gram chunk of cocaine. On the car’s center console lay a cigarette pack containing a marijuana pipe with pot residue as well as 0.5 grams of pot. The Olds was held for possible forfeiture. Further search of the vehicle revealed items the burglary victims said were from the garage. They included a shop vac, power tools, CDs, a red gas can, a dinner set and a chocolate fountain. The investigation continues.
Ex-pair accuse each another of ongoing torment

A concerned citizen alerted police to a domestic disturbance in front of the police station. Police found a 56-year-old Lemont man and a 43-year-old woman there, arguing. The man told the officer the woman was his ex-mistress, who now telephones constantly and follows him both to his workplace and his home. The woman, however, told police he’s the one making the calls, in order to “manipulate her mentally” and cause her heartache. Police advised the two to avoid one another completely.

Yard thefts, garage burglary

A homeowner in the 1900 block of Elmwood reported someone stole four landscaping lights from his front yard.

In the 2200 block of Ridgeland, a woman told police someone entered her garage and stole the front plate off her SUV along with some hand tools.

A $200 Kenmore gas grill was reported stolen overnight from a back yard in the 2300 block of Scoville.
Gang-loitering goofs advised: go away or else. Some take the hint.

Gang task force officers checking on a known gang/drug location in the 1600 block of Wesley—half a block from the park district building and children’s playground—noticed several people fleeing into the house in question, while others left in a vehicle. Police stopped the car and advised its inmates not to hang out at that house, or risk arrest. Returning to the house, police saw one person still loitering in front, even though he had been previously told not to. Rodolfo Rodriguez, 19, of the 1800 block of Euclid—nicknamed, according to police, “Goofy”—was arrested and charged with loitering.
Chicago man found in Berwyn was fugitive from Ohio

Two officers saw a suspicious vehicle at 13th and Cuyler. A passenger in the car had no ID, but once Marlon Molina, 28, of the 1700 block of west Cullerton, Chicago, was positively identified by fingerprints, police checked and uncovered an active, no-bond warrant out of Ohio for Molina, for absconding from probation. He was processed as a fugitive.

Speeding, alley misuse and disobeying a stop sign

A grey Chevy Cavalier was stopped for doing 43 MPH in a 25 MPH zone in the 6300 through 6500 blocks of Cermak. Driver Jesus Carlos Garcia-Salas of Cicero was also wearing no seat belt and driving without a license.

An officer noticed a white Dodge Charger enter the south Cermak alley despite the clearly posted sign stating “alley traffic prohibited”. Driver Yessica Hernandez, 19, of Cicero, was cited for prohibited use of alley as a thoroughfare, no license and no insurance.

An officer saw a Hyundai, westbound on 21st, turn south onto Grove and disobey the stop sign, which was clearly posted and without visual obstructions. Driver
Dwayne T. Johnson, 24, of the 4900 block of west Concord Place, Chicago, was cited for blowing the stop and driving despite his suspended license. The car was impounded.

Landscapers blamed for car scratch

A 49-year-old resident of an apartment in the 1600 block of Harlem told police he thinks the landscapers that came to cut the lawn in front of the building are responsible for a scratch on his 2005 Cadillac DeVille. He told police, however, that he did not see it happen.

Honduran passport, expired license, insufficient to allow driving in Illinois

An accident in the 6800 block of Ogden involved a tan Ford 4-door and a Toyota pickup truck. When one of the driver’s was asked by police for a driver’s license and insurance proof, he presented only a passport from Honduras. Wilfredo Reyes, 29, who told police he had been living in Cicero for five years, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to yield while turning left, and driving without a license.

An officer in the 2700 block of Kenilworth saw a silver Dodge van backing northbound, into traffic, on Kenilworth—directly into the path of a car headed eastbound on 27th. During the traffic stop, the driver handed over an Illinois driver’s license that expired more than two months earlier. Tickets for the expired license and improper backing were issued to Eleanor F. Maxa, a resident of that block.
