Street fight
February 23, 2008, 2:46 AM
If you live near Highland and 26th, and wonder who was involved in a recent large street fight, keep wondering—the two guys police caught have nothing to say. The lights and sirens of responding police caused the belligerents—who were were yelling, pushing and fighting in the middle of the intersection—to disperse in all directions like cockroaches. Officers stopped two men they recognized as local gang members: a 30-year-old man and his 27-year-old brother, both of the 2700 block of Clarence. Neither would cooperate, nor would they identify any of the others involved in the brawl.

February 22, 2008, 11:05 AM

The daughter was one of the caller’s coworkers. Mom asked the waitress why she was having a problem with the daughter. The waitress—or victim, as we will now know her—knew the confrontation was actually about the fact the 23-year-old victim and the 40-year-old mom were dating the same man, a Chicago resident also employed at Inclusive. The victim said the mom grew irate and pushed her, hard. The victim said she asked manager Vernon D. Weaver to call police, but he did not. The mom then tried to strike the victim with a cutting board from the kitchen. The victim, her co-worker and the co-worker’s mom were all escorted outside, and the victim went to her car to call police. She said mother and daughter and two other women attacked the car by kicking it, then fled in a black car. Weaver denied any physical conflict occurred inside Inclusive, just outside.
