Hair-pulling fight over kitchen implements

May 11, 2008, 10:56 PM
Police were sent to the 1600 block of Ridgeland on reports of a dispute involving a baseball bat.  They found two women yelling at each other in the stairway of an apartment, as an unaggressive man stood by harmlessly holding a baseball bat.  Police recovered the bat, separated the combatants and interviewed everyone.  The women apparently have an ongoing disagreement over the ownership of some pots, pans, etc.  One woman told police she came home and found her radio missing, so she immediately went to the other apartment, kicked in the door and confronted the other woman.  Thus began the struggle.  At one point, the angry woman fetched a baseball bat, which induced the other woman to call 911.  The second woman appeared to be the victim, with bite marks on her arms and clumps of her hair lying on the floor.  The door-kicker was charged with domestic battery.

May 10, 2008, 9:28 PM
Police sent to check out a disturbance in the 3300 block of Harlem met with an 18-year-old woman from that block, and a 23-year-old man from the 2300 block of Euclid.  The man had a bloody nose.  He said while he and the woman were entering her residence two unknown males made suggestive statements to the woman. The man said he talked back aggressively to the two.  He said he knew the two men were active members of a Chicago street gang, and said they mistakenly believed him to be a member of a well-known rival gang.  After the ritual exchange of gang slogans was completed, the two men attacked him before they fled southbound in the Harlem/Maple alley.  Later, the victim said one of the men was named “Victor” and lived somewhere in north Berwyn.
