Sibs highly worked up over “missing” woman

December 1, 2007, 2:37 AM
A 30-year-old woman in the parking lot of Guadalajara restaurant, at Ogden and Harlem, told police she could not find her 27-year-old sister.  The missing woman was last seen at 1:30 AM in the company of a man.  Police searched all the nearby cars for the missing woman to no avail.  Meanwhile, the restaurant owner told officers that two patrons who had been told to leave had reentered the premises without permission; he said the man and woman verbally abused him, then the woman punched him in the nose.  He identified 30-year-old Blanca Serenil of Aurora. She was charged with battery, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.  The women’s brother became loud and disorderly about the matter.  When he refused police requests to settle down, Antonio Serenil was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Lyons police later found the missing woman.  She was at the Plank Road Inn.  She told police she left with a man, of her own accord, and just forgot to inform her siblings.

November 30, 2007,7:21 PM
As police were answering a retail theft call from Circuit City, 7001 Cermak, they learned one suspect had fled on foot; the other was westbound on Cermak in a maroon sedan.  Police found the pedestrian suspect, and store security guards positively identified her.  The security guard told police he saw a man and a woman via surveillance camera.  The man was placing Blu-Ray DVDs in his pants; the woman appeared to be acting as lookout and pointing out videos. The guard said upon spotting the pair’s activities, he locked the doors of the store and told the man, “Sir, please stop.  You have merchandise in your pants.” The suspect asked whether they would let him go if he gave back the merchandise; when told “no”, the man ran out via the (unlocked) merchandise pickup door.  Police spoke with the woman, 37-year-old Patricia Berry of the 900 block of north LaVergne, Chicago; after being read her Miranda rights, she stated the man, known only to her as “Kevin”, picked her up at her job at a Salvation Army store in the city, then drove to her home where she snorted heroin purchased from Kevin.  She said Kevin asked her to ride with him to “get a movie”.  Once at Circuit City, she said, she found what she wanted; she described it as a “soldier movie” but was unable to remember the title. Berry said she saw “Kevin” put one movie under his arm and the other into his pants.  She was charged with one count of retail theft.
