September 23, 2007, 2:24 AM
Three Oak Park men ages 25, 28 and 29 reported a battery outside Lalo’s, 3011 Harlem.  The men said they were waiting for a taxi in front of Lalo’s when they were approached by five men from inside the bar.  One man questioned the youngest Oak Parker about his earlier conversation with a woman in the bar, then punched the young man in the nose before fleeing north on Harlem with his companions in a grey sedan, possibly an Impala.  The victim described the offender as a male Hispanic, about age 60, 5’7”, with a long black ponytail, wearing all-black clothing and a necklace with a cross.

Banned from bar

September 23, 2007, 2:21 AM
Two bouncers at La Aduana bar, 6736 Cermak, called police and detained a man they had banned from the premises earlier for unruly behavior.  This time, they said, he tried to enter via the back door of the bar. Although the bouncers informed him several times he was not welcome at La Aduana, the man reportedly argued, swung his fist at one man and threatened to kill the other.  The detainee told police his name was “Sergio Garcia”.  However, fingerprints during the booking process revealed his true identity:  Edgar Acuna, 33, of the 1300 block of Clarence.  He was charged with assault, battery and attempted obstruction.

My big fat secret-taping dispute

September 23, 2007, 1:40 AM
Police responded to a disturbance in a three-flat in the 1600 block of Ridgeland.  There, a woman told police she slugged her 25-year-old sister-in-law after the younger woman shoved her mom (the 25-year-old’s mom-in-law).
Police spoke with the younger woman, who said she was yelling at her mother-in-law because she uncovered evidence her husband had secretly recorded her phone conversations.  When she complained to the man’s mother, Mom responded, “It’s his house, he can do what he wants.” The younger woman then yelled, “it’s not OK!”, prompting the sister-in-law to throw a dog dish at her head.
The younger woman told officers she had found a hidden camera, wiring, 12-13 cassettes and 6 or 7 VHS tapes of her conversations.  She said she put them all in a red backpack and took them to show the mom-in-law.  When she called police, she said, either mother- or sis-in-law must have hidden the backpack. Both women denied knowledge of any backpack.  However, during the dog-bowl-tosser’s subsequent arrest for domestic battery, the 73-year-old paterfamilias spoke in Greek to his daughter, telling her to come up with the backpack.  His instruction was heard by a Greek-speaking police officer.

Excluded from Inclusive

September 23, 2007, 12:31 AM
A bouncer from Inclusive nightclub, 6319 Roosevelt, called police to report two unwanted persons were standing by the front door after being asked to leave the premises.  Police arrived and learned the reasons for their exclusion:  one showed up wearing gym shoes, which are not allowed inside; the other came to the door already holding an alcoholic beverage in his hand.  When the bouncer told the two they weren’t getting in, they became confrontational, so she called police.
Police spoke with the men, a 30-year-old from the 1100 block of south Cuyler, Oak Park, and a 26-year-old from the 3900 block of west Gladys, Chicago.  Both appeared to feel the bouncer was being unreasonable.  Even so, the officer told them, they were still not wanted and would have to go away.
