An officer at 26th Street and Oak Park Avenue heard a car from beyond 100 feet away and pulled it over. The 1992 white Chrysler LeBaron was driven by 19-year-old Orlando Figueroa of Lyons; it was impounded and Figueroa ticketed for violating the noise ordinance.
Businesswoman confronts man trying to pee in her alley

Police were dispatched to Pizza-Ria, 16th and Elmwood, and there met with owner Joanna Manno. Manno said she had confronted a man she caught in the alley behind the business with his pants half open and his belt unbuckled. The man became verbally abusive and said he had been planning to urinate there but stopped when he saw her. The officer arrested Horacio Gallegos, 20, of Cicero, and charged him with disorderly conduct.
Seatbelt and noise check produces 93 tickets, one injury
April 5, 2007, between 1:40 and 4 PM.
Fifteen police officers, three auxiliary officers and Police Chief William Kushner ran a check for seatbelt and noise ordinance compliance in the 2300 block of Home and behind Cermak Plaza. Police issued 93 tickets during this time. Three cars were impounded for excessive noise; one was a man who said he needed the stereo loud because he was deaf (he was also unlicensed). One 14-year-old boy was arrested for driving while too young to have a license. One 77-year-old woman in a Toyota Corolla disobeyed Detective David Green’s order to stop so he could ticket her for wearing no seatbelt. Instead, she drove forward and hit him in the knee with her car, which was then stopped by another officer. She received three citations: failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and disobeying a police officer.
Drunken wife arrested for battery in assault against husband, furniture, TV

A 56-year-old man living in the 7100 block of Windsor called police to report that after he returned from a walk, his drunken 51-year-old wife began to hit him in the face. Next, she knocked over their TV and broke several pieces of furniture, cutting the husband’s arm in the process. The wife was arrested, and a female officer was brought in from the North Riverside P.D. to search her. After the search, the wife refused to put her clothes back on for some time. When at last she got dressed again, she was charged with one count of domestic battery. In her pants pocket were 28 anti-seizure pills for which she could not prove she had a prescription; these were destroyed.
Briefcase, radio stolen from Chevy

A woman in the 2200 block of Elmwood parked her 1998 Chevy Malibu on the street the previous evening and woke to find her car’s rear window smashed out. The in-dash radio was stolen along with a briefcase full of papers from her workplace.
Honda harmed by stereo burglar

Overnight, someone broke into a 1999 Honda Accord parked in the 2300 block of Gunderson. Unknown persons broke the driver’s side window and damaged the dashboard to steal the in-dash stereo and some CDs.
Unlocked Ford helpless to resist stereo burglar

Someone stole a Sony AM/FM/CD stereo overnight from a black 2005 Ford Escape. The Ford was parked in the 3800 block of Clinton but, alas, left unlocked.
Thursday morning graffiti roundup

Police were kept busy reporting an overnight flood of graffiti on businesses and residences in the following blocks: 1 in the 6200 block of Cermak; 3 in the 6300 block of Cermak;1 each in the 2400 blocks of Elmwood and Clarence; 1 in the 2300 block of Wesley; and some multicolored stuff on a shed, a light pole and a Porta-Potty at Janura Park, 28th and East.
Woman resents bedroom boomboom from Bocadillo’s bass

A 44-year-old woman called police to say she was tired of tolerating the disturbing bass music resonating into her bedroom from Bocadillo’s restaurant, 6739 Ogden. Police went to Bocadillo’s and noted a “deep bass sound” before they even entered the place. Tickets for violating the noise ordinance were issued to the owner, 33-year-old Juan Martin Reyes of Naperville, and to DJ Juan Montoya, 32, of Chicago. The neighbor signed both complaints.
Car alarm system suspected of setting car on fire

Police dispatched to the 2200 block of Grove found a white Crown Victoria sedan engulfed in smoke, and a man pouring water onto the car. The man, 32- year-old Jeffrey D. Thornton of Forest Park, said he noticed the left side of his car on fire and was using the water to extinguish it. Thornton recently had an alarm system installed; the car had suffered electrical problems ever since and he suspects this caused the fire.

Cicero stopsign scofflaw also lacks license

A police officer watched as an eastbound red Toyota Corolla ignored the stop sign at 16th and Wesley. The driver, a Cicero woman, had no valid license; she was ticketed for that and disobeying the stop.
Lexus with no headlights driven by man with no license

An officer spotted a beige 1999 Lexus with temporary plates westbound on 16th without headlights, and stopped the car in the 6800 block of 16th. The driver, a 30-year-old man from the 1800 block of Grove, had a revoked driver’s license and was arrested.
Marital dispute in two parts

A 48 year-old woman in the 1300 block of Oak Park Avenue reported her husband had grabbed her neck and right arm. When she threatened to call police, he pinned her against the front door. She broke free, grabbed a knife and got out of the house to use a neighbor’s phone to call police. The husband fled southbound in a red pickup truck. She agreed to sign a complaint against him.

The wife called again, saying the husband returned, took a photo off the wall, and fled all over again.
Lincoln impounded for extreme loudness

An officer saw a black 1998 Lincoln heading north on East with music much louder than necessary to be heard 75 feet away. The driver, 50-year-old Ruben Salgado, Jr., of Cicero, said he had no license or any other ID on his person. He was arrested and the Lincoln impounded. Butts of marijuana “blunts” totalling 5.8 grams were found in the Lincoln. He was fined $500 for the noise violation. He was also ticketed for not having his license and for having tinted windows.
