Caller reported an open door at 2218 Highland. The responding police sergeant discovered the house was uninhabited, and a good thing, too: there were holes in the ceilings, trash in every room, and water seepage throughout. Man out on bond for assault and battery gets arrested for punching out a window
September 21, 2008, 5:09 AM

An officer spoke to the victim, a woman who said the man was her ex-boyfriend. She said the man showed up intoxicated and enraged, then tried to enter her residence by punching the front window. Meanwhile, police chased the offender, who jumped a series of back yard fences, leaving a trail of blood. He was hiding in a back yard on the same block, using foliage in a flower garden to conceal himself; he would not respond to commands.
Police arrested Jesse V. Chagoya, 39, currently a resident of the 3000 block of Wesley. He was charged with criminal damage to property, and could not post bond because he was already out on bond for domestic battery and aggravated assault of a police officer*.

Age twenty: the last year a woman wants people to think she’s older than she is
September 21, 2008, 2:10 AM
An anonymous caller told police there was an underage bartender working at Windsor Lounge, 6814 Windsor. After speaking with all bartenders, police found only one could not show valid identification. The woman, a resident of the 1600 block of Scoville, insisted she was 21, even though a check of her name showed her to be only 20. When police pointed this out, the woman insisted that some unknown person must have stolen her identity.
Later the same day, at 5:43 PM, police attempted to telephone the bartender, but nobody answered. An officer then stopped at her house on Scoville and spoke to her 39-year-old mom. The mom said her daughter was not home. When asked how old her daughter was, mom responded, “20”. Police issued a ticket to the daughter for possession of alcohol by a minor, which her mom signed and agreed to give to her.

A search of the van revealed a sack behind the front passenger seat containing a 6-pack of Modelo, with three full bottles, one empty and one half-drunk bottle. Chavez was charged with transporting open alcohol, and the van was impounded. The van also contained three guitars and a trumpet, which could not be removed from the van because police could not find anyone to verify who owned the instruments.
