August 9, 2008, 3:11 AM
Police were summoned to MacNeal Hospital to speak with a battery victim; the battery reportedly occurred between 12 AM and 12:15 AM at a party in the 2600 block of Harvey. The victim—a 19-year-old man from the 2700 block of Kenilworth—told police five men beat him, one hitting him over the head with a bottle. His wounds required seven staples and eight stitches to close. The victim was uncooperative at first and refused to reveal the identities of his violent friends. Later, however, he gave up the names “Chris"(the party host), “Brian”, “David”, someone known only as “IB”, and the name of a 14-year-old juvenile girl—a resident of the 2700 block of Ridgeland—who may have witnessed the well-past-curfew beating.
Later, the victim reported the party, which involved drinking in a back yard, was running low on booze. The victim’s pals wanted him to chip in cash to get more, and beat him when he resisted.
6 PM
The victim’s mom told police the wounded man received threats from one offender.

Box-cutter recovered in domestic assault
July 27, 2008, 10:06 PM
In the 2200 block of Elmwood, police responded to a disturbance call. The victim, a 40-year-old man, told police the mother of his kids, a Maywood resident, arrived to drop off the children. However, she somehow got into the residence and ran upstairs to retrieve what she said was her CD player. The man became uneasy and went up to look for her. He encountered her in his sister’s room, where she was holding a box-cutter. The woman started to yell and swing the box-cutter at the victim. There was a struggle; eventually the woman left the building, but started knocking on neighbors’ doors, asking them to call police.
Police spoke with the very uncooperative woman, who said she only had the box-cutter in order to destroy the CD player so the man could not have it. She was unable to adequately explain why she entered the house without permission in the first place. She was arrested, and proved uncooperative during booking, also. When told to sit on a bench in the lockup, the woman began to strip off all her clothing while yelling at police that she had nothing on her. The box-cutter was recovered. The woman was charged with aggravated domestic assault.

Bat-wielding assailant shot on Austin Blvd.
Attacker hospitalized; OP police seeking gunman
By BILL DWYER
Staff Reporter
A highly intoxicated man who jumped out of a car on Austin Boulevard late Sunday night hurling racial slurs and swinging a bat was shot by one of his would-be victims.
The shooting victim, described only as an Hispanic male and a Berwyn resident, had reportedly been partying and got into an argument with his girlfriend. He then went for a ride with a friend to cool off. Right about midnight, the pair spotted several black individuals coming off the Austin Boulevard Blue Line el stop and the drunken man told his friend to pull over so he could “mess” with them.
The man exited the black Chevy Envoy with a baseball bat and confronted one of the men, spewing racial slurs. After the drunken man took two or three swings at the pedestrian, the man drew a pistol from his waistband and shot his attacker in the leg and hip.
Oak Park police were called to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn where they interviewed the man who had been shot. At first he told police he was accosted while walking on Austin. However, the SUV’s driver told police the victim had in fact attacked the group of men because they were black.
“He’s got a long (criminal) history,” Commander Clemet Harbour said this afternoon. As for the man with the gun, Harbour said, “We’re still trying to find him.”

Police were dispatched on reports of a beating in the 2100 block of Harvey. Streams of blood ran down the face of the victim—a 69-year-old man from that block—from his right ear. The wound required five stitches to close. Witnesses told police the offender approached the victim as the victim was sweeping the sidewalk, and hit him several times about the face. After being read his rights, Ingoglia reportedly told police: “Why am I here? That old man tried to kill me. He threw a bucket of sand at me. He threw a bucket of water at me and hit me with a broomstick. He danced on me when I was dying. I’m being framed for their wrongdoings. He tried to kill me. I have a witness and his name his Mike. I don’t know his last name or where he lives.” Witnesses told police that at no time did the victim attempt to strike Ingoglia. Ingoglia was charged with felony aggravated battery, and felony aggravated battery with a victim over age 60.
