November 9, 2007, 5:09 PM
A woman from the 1600 block of Kenilworth told police her ex-boyfriend showed up, argued with her, choked her neck and damaged the borrowed SUV she was driving.  She signed a complaint against the 39-year-old man, a resident of the 4000 block of west Nelson, Chicago.

A woman in the 1900 block of Harlem told police her ex-boyfriend, a 40-year-old Broadview man, came to her place to talk.  During the talk, he grabbed both her arms, shook her, and said “Wait ‘til you see what I’m going to do to your car!” The woman then heard a loud noise, and found a piece of cement on the broken windshield of her Dodge Neon.  Police photographed the damage to the car and the injuries to the woman’s arm; the offender was not found.

Let sleeping cokeheads lie

November 9, 2007, 5:13 PM
A 17-year-old woman from the 2100 block of Highland came to the police station to report that on November 7 at 1 AM, she found a rolled-up dollar bill in her live-in boyfriend’s pants pocket.  She said she unrolled it and found white powder, so she woke him up and confronted him in the belief it was cocaine.  The 17-year-old man said it was nothing, and “I’m going back to sleep.” The woman said she insisted she wanted no drugs in their house or near their baby, and pushed him toward the door.  The man refused, and reportedly stated, “If you want to stand up like a man, I’ll treat you like a man,” and proceeded to punch her face and head.  The victim’s visible injuries included a cut, bruised lip; a lump on the head; arm bruises, and a bite-lacerated thumb.  Police went to the man’s workplace—a restaurant in the 6300 block of Ogden—and arrested him for domestic battery.

Spoiled little brother

November 9, 2007, 3:46 PM
Police were dispatched to a fight in front of a house in the 1500 block of East, where they spoke with a woman who said her 18-year-old son and 30-year-old son-in-law were fighting. The fight apparently started when the teen asked his sister to drive him somewhere.  They argued, and her husband joined in, kicking and damaging a wooden door in the process, then initiating a physical fight.  The sister said her husband was upset because her younger brother “always gets what he wants”.  Neither man was cooperative with police.  The older man was charged with domestic battery and resisting an officer, and the younger brother with resisting an officer.

Bolingbrook man threatens Berwyn cops

November 3, 2007, 12:19 AM
An officer saw four men arguing at Cermak and Euclid; when he told them to leave, one man replied, “F@% You!” Two of the four men took off before backup officers arrived.  Of the remaining two, the younger man—17-year-old Julio Jurado of Bolingbrook—was extremely uncooperative and threatening toward police, swearing at them.  The older man was 40-year-old Estanislado Jurado, also of Bolingbrook, same address.  Both men smelled strongly of alcohol.  When an officer tried to frisk the younger man, he cursed and turned aggressively on the officer, which caused the cop to perform what the report called a “head stun” maneuver.  During his subsequent arrest for assaulting a police officer, Julio Jurado continued to curse and threaten police.  Julio Jurado was charged with assault; Estanislado Jurado was cited for disorderly conduct.

October 26, 2007, 4:35 PM

Boys meet girl, boys fall for girl, boy threatens boy with baseball bat

October 23, 2007, 3:49
Police were sent to 25th and Euclid after calls about someone chasing someone else with a baseball bat.  They found a 17-year-old boy and his older sister, who told officers they were walking to the sister’s car, when a male in a black hoody and dark pants yelled the brother’s name and came running at them, swinging a baseball bat.  The sister screamed and the offender fled on foot.  Even as the victims were talking to police, the offender reappeared, prompting the victims to point and say, “That’s him!”.  Police caught an 18-year-old man from the 2800 block of south Kenneth, Chicago.  The bat-wielding offender said he would not have struck anyone, but merely intended to “scare” the other teen.  Officers learned that both males harbored a romantic interest in a certain girl.  The Chicago man was charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault, as well as disorderly conduct.

Couple’s yelling brings police, gets man a domestic battery charge

October 23, 2007, 10:52 AM
A disturbance in the 2100 block of Oak Park brought police to the lobby of a building where a man and a woman were yelling at each other.  The woman told officers the man was her boyfriend, he was not on her apartment lease, and she wants him out.  The man said he intended to leave but wanted to get his possessions.  When questioned about the initial disturbance, the woman said she was preparing to leave for work when the argument began.  She said the man announced he would leave, but was taking their 6-week-old infant along with him.  The woman then picked up the infant and said nuh-uh.  The woman said the boyfriend slapped her face and grabbed her arm; when she set the baby in the crib, he threw her down and choked her.  The woman had visible injuries; the man did not, despite his claims of “self-defense”.  When officers attempted to handcuff the man, he yelled and pulled away.  Once additional cops arrived, he was successfully restrained.  The 36-year-old man was charged with resisting an officer as well as one count of domestic battery.
