Tuesday graffiti done in paint, marker, fresh concrete

Bubble graffiti in green paint marred a garage in the 2700 block of Wesley.

In the 2300 block of Home, graffiti was found on a garage, done with black marker.
6:44 PM
A sergeant and a detective witnessed two males writing on freshly-poured concrete sidewalk squares in the 2600 block of Ridgeland. The subjects identified themselves to police: they were two 18-year-old men from the 2200 and 1600 blocks of Cuyler. A public works representative told police each sidewalk section costs $75. The men were arrested. Each was cited for damage to city property.

Green unknown graffiti was sprayed on a garage in the 2600 block of Clarence.

A second garage in the same block was found with graffiti apparently done with a “Sharpie” pen; police were unable to contact the residents.

A garage in the 2700 block of Wesley was found with green graffiti on its overhead door.
4:35 PM
Large blue painted letters marred the appearance of a garage in the 2600 block of Ridgeland; a witness told police it was done very recently.

Two garages in the 2700 block of Euclid were defaced with graffiti.

Criminal damage to truck, SUV

A man found his white Ford work van with one tire slashed after he parked it overnight in the 6500 block of Vacin.

A green Ford Explorer parked in the 1800 block of Grove was found with its front and rear windshields smashed with a large piece of concrete.

28th and East structures vandalized, signs snatched

A concession stand at a park at East and 28th was found defaced with graffiti. Police also saw words and symbols written on an electrical box and a dumpster. In addition, ten to twelve diamond-shaped signs, advertising sponsors, were stolen.

Criminal damage to cars with a burglary thrown in

In the 2800 block of Highland, a black Ford SUV was found with its rear window cracked.

In the 6500 block of 33rd, a man found his Honda motorcycle lying on its side in the street, damaged. There were no signs it had been hit by a passing vehicle.

A red Cadillac parked in the 6500 block of 16th was found with a brick through its rear window; the Caddy belonged to a woman from the 4800 block of Rice, Chicago.

A black Yukon parked in the 2800 block of Ridgeland was found with a cracked window.

Two cars—a green Olds and a blue Volkswagen—were found scratched in the 3200 block of Clinton.

Shattered SUV window

A man parked his beige Silverado in the 2300 block of Highland the previous night, and woke to find it with a rear window broken out.

Graffiti in red spray-painted “bubble” style letters was found on a garage door in the 2200 block of Ridgeland, still fresh: the victim said it occurred between 8 and 10 PM.

Orange spray paint was used to deface a brick wall in the 2300 block of East; a local juvenile is suspected.

Two garages in the 2300 block of Scoville were marked with orange and green painted graffiti.

Riverside woman’s car gets scratched

A Riverside woman parked her grey Isuzu at Cermak Plaza, then found someone had made a scratch along the bumper, front quarter-panel and door on one side.

Tired of having to paint over graffiti

The owner of a business in the 6200 block of Cermak told police he found gang graffiti in black paint on the front of his building, as well as illegible graffiti on a dumpster in back. The man reported he finds graffiti on the back doors of his business almost every night lately, and has painted over it himself several times.

Wet concrete an attractive nuisance

An officer in the 1300 block of East noticed a 13- to 15-foot stretch of freshly poured concrete had been vandalized. Public Works personnel were able to repair the damaged sidewalk.

Graffiti in black paint was found on the west wall of a building in the 6300 block of Roosevelt.

Someone painted graffiti onto a pink moving van parked in the 6600 block of 26th; the vandals also scratched letters onto the truck.

Black shoe polish was used to place graffiti on the glass front window of a business in the 7100 block of Cermak.

Local urchins suspected of egg, chalk annoyance

Two men from the 3200 block of Highland reported someone threw eggs at their parked sedans. One victim said this has been going on a couple of weeks. He said previously, someone wrote on vehicles, houses, all over the street, in chalk. He suspects the children of the live-in-girlfriend of a man on that block.
