Jeweler’s window damaged

The front window of a jewelry store in the 6400 block of Cermak was found damaged, apparently by a shot from a BB gun.

Gang graffiti and a man untroubled by bike theft

Graffiti was found on a garage door in the 2700 block of Wesley.

A Neighborhood Watch block captain discovered and reported gang graffiti on two garages in the 2200 and two more in the 2300 blocks of Scoville.
8:36 PM
After finding graffiti on a garage in the 2200 block of Kenilworth, police spoke with the homeowner, who said he had two bicycles stolen from his property in the previous two weeks, but had not felt it necessary to report the theft.
8:51 PM
An unauthorized bunny-head portrait marred a garage in the 2200 block of Clinton.

Graffiti was found on an alley fence in the 1600 block of Highland.

In the 2600 block of Highland, a garage was scrawled with gang graffiti.

Vandals mess up cars, lousy tenants damage apartment

A man who parked his Buick sedan in the MacNeal parking lot at 3249 Oak Park reported someone vandalized the car with paint.

Two tires were cut on a Camry parked in the 1600 block of Ridgeland.
3:59 PM
A 44-year-old Cicero man, owner of a property in the 3400 block of Oak Park, reported that, after his tenants moved out, he discovered damaged to two door locks and graffiti on a bedroom wall in the apartment.
10:38 PM
Ford Escort, broken window, 6900 block of 16th.

Extensive gang graffiti by the usual gang of vandals

Vandals left gang graffiti—consisting of painted numbers, bunny faces, etc—on garages and a fence in the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Kenilworth; the 6800 and 6900 blocks of Riverside Drive; the 2300 block of Grove; and the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Clinton. Property at fourteen different addresses was defaced.

“Ha ha, don’t mess with Jessica!”

A man in the 2100 block of Oak Park told police a crashing sound got him out of bed.  He found his front window had been broken by a thrown green glass bottle of “Miller Chill” beer.  The victim ran to his back door in time to see a man, known to him only as “Larry”, who said, “Ha ha, don’t mess with Jessica!” and ran away.

Street-cleaning sign dirtied with gang graffiti

Criminal damage to Dodge, Toyota

Two windows on a Dodge Stratus were broken as the car was parked in the 1800 block of Maple.
6:19 PM
In the 3400 block of Ridgeland, a Toyota Highlander had a window broken by an unknown person.
6:38 AM
Someone shattered the glass front door of a business in the 6900 block of 16th.

Video shows man smashing store window, fleeing

An officer noticed a brick lying in front of the smashed-out window of a store in the 6500 block of 16th St.  A flat-screen television was on display in the window.  Police saw store surveillance video, which depicted a male white or Hispanic in a blue sweatshirt, coming from the west and smashing the window at about 2:38 AM.  After the man threw the brick, he fled westward.  The owner, a 29-year-old Evergreen Park woman, told police a copy of the video would be made available to them.

Gang graffiti was found on garages in the following blocks:  the 2700 and 2800 blocks of Highland, the 3300 block of Clinton, and the 3300 block of Kenilworth.

In the 3800 block of Highland, a window of a Toyota SUV was smashed with a beer bottle.
12:20 PM
Multiple eggs were flung against the window of a residence in the 1600 block of Cuyler.
3:41 PM
A woman in the 6500 block of 19th told police she thinks her bedroom window was broken by her former boyfriend, a man from the 1800 block of Gunderson.
4:01 PM
The manager of a rental property in the 6500 block of Stanley, north of the tracks, told police someone broke the brass water meter in the building’s laundry room.  The manager suspects a recently-evicted tenant, spotted nearby.
10:33 PM
A Ford Expedition suffered a broken window while parked in the 2400 block of Lombard.

Someone broke a house’s rear window in the 1400 block of Harvey.

Gangs draw directly on streets, thus marring entire neighborhood

Gang graffiti was spray-painted in the middle of the street at the intersections of 18th and Wenonah and 16th and Wenonah.  More of the same letters, numerals and bunny/star/playing card symbols were found—again, painted right on the pavement—in the middle of the 1600 block of Wenonah; at 23rd and Home, and in front of a house in the 2200 block of Home.

Creeps in a gangway, damage left behind

Witnesses told police two men were seen walking back and forth in front of a residence in the 1600 block of Gunderson, west side.  The men were seen traveling once or twice from the south-side gangway to a Ford Expedition parked in front.  Then one man was seen throwing something at the Ford, upon which both offenders ran away.  The Ford was left with a broken window.  The suspects were described only as two males in dark hoodies and dark pants.

Damage to a garage door in the 1800 block of Grove appeared to have been done by someone trying to force it open.
