Two cars suffer brick damage

In the 6400 block of 27th, someone threw a brick through the windshield of a Chevy pickup. Another brick was used on an Olds parked nearby.

Boot shenanigans

Using the EYENET system, police in the 2400 block of Home located a grey GMC Savanna minivan, with Florida plates, that had five or more unpaid tickets or other combination of violations. The officer duly placed wheel lock, or “boot”, on one wheel.
Later in the day, North Riverside police called Berwyn to report a suspicious van, with Florida plates, parked unlocked in the parking lot of the Jewel grocery, 24th and Harlem. In plain view on the seat lay Berwyn police department’s wheel lock #16. It was damaged. Police recovered the boot, then impounded the van. The van was registered to a 54-year-old man from Punta Gorda, Florida.

Graffiti disses gang touted by kid-shooter

Three garages in the 1400 block of Wisconsin were defaced with graffiti. The gang graffiti was intended to express a wish to do away with members of a street gang—the same gang whose slogans were shouted by a man who shot a Berwyn boy three days earlier.*

Heated discussion, broken windows

Someone broke a window on a black Pontiac parked in the south MacNeal hospital lot, 3249 Oak Park.

A caller reported a disturbance in the 6800 block of 21st, where police found a residence with a broken basement window. A witness saw two men in a heated discussion in the nearby Kenilworth/Grove alley. After the two separated, one walked away northbound. The other broke the window and left southbound in a white vehicle that contained four females. The offender was described as a male white, 17-20 years old, 5’6” and 140 lbs with curly hair.

Gang letters and symbols were found scratched onto the door and on the wall near the bed in cell #6 at the Berwyn police lockup, 6401 31st.

Strong woman tackles, holds skinny little vandal for police

A woman in the 1800 block of Oak Park told police her ex boyfriend texted her earlier in the evening; she replied “leave me alone.” Later, in her flat, she heard a noise, ran outside and caught a 24-year-old Cicero man she knew as a friend of the ex, in the act of shattering the back window of her Cadillac. The woman, who outweighed the man by 80 pounds, tackled the offender.
A neighbor told police he heard the vandalism and went outside to stop the man, but the woman already had him on the ground and under control. The vandal was charged with criminal damage.

In the 6700 block of Stanley, a woman called police because her boyfriend threw chocolate milk at her. She then refused to sign a complaint.

Landlord from Frankfort reports massive damage done by tenants to Berwyn rental unit

A 44-year-old Frankfort man told police of large amount of damage his ex-tenants caused to his rental building in the 6700 block of 26th. According to the landlord, the damage was so extreme, he was forced to replace windows, the carpets, the kitchen counters, the entire kitchen floor, repair damaged drywall, and repaint.

Gang graffiti and symbols were found on an overhead garage door in the 3600 block of Euclid, west side.

Graffiti advertising a well-known street gang was found on a garage door in the 6900 block of 26th. The victim said the offenders were two male Hispanics, and said they fled in a red Buick sedan with a license plate the last four digits of which were “3040”.
5:57 PM
Gang graffiti was found on garages in the 1300 block of Clinton and the 1500 block of Home.

A man reported he parked his car in the 6800 block of Vacin, near Oak Park Ave. and north of Cermak, then came back to find gang graffiti spray-painted on the white Crown Victoria’s hood.

Red graffiti marred the appearance of an overhead garage door in the 3300 block of Highland.

During the night, someone came to the 6200 block of Ogden, smashed a wall-mounted night light, and sprayed graffiti on a wall. The complainant suspects vagrants who sleep in the parking lot there.

More red graffiti, another garage door, this time in the 3200 block of Lombard.

Letters legible and otherwise were found painted on the IC underpass at Lombard and Park.

Baggy-clothes runner, broken truck window—connected?

An officer en route to back up another unit on Roosevelt noticed a man running past. The man ran east, then south through the 1500 block of Highland/Harvey alley. The officer described him as a male Hispanic. 16 to 25 years old, dressed in a baggy white T shirt and long baggy pants. Just after this sighting, the officer noticed a tan Ford pickup trucked parked in the 6300 block of 15th, sporting a recently broken window.
