Woman’s injuries get man charged with domestic battery

A woman told police her boyfriend beat and attempted to rape her in his residence. She said she escaped by biting his hand and screaming. Police photographed the woman’s injured neck, chest, arms, abdomen and back. Officers located the offender, a 32-year-old man from the 6500 block of 16th St., in the alley behind his home. He was charged with domestic battery.

Wanted in three jurisdictions

After a domestic disturbance in the 3100 block of Euclid, neighbors told police an 18-year-old woman leaped out the window of the residence and ran down the alley—possibly because she was wanted on three arrest warrants. One warrant was from Berwyn for battery; another was out of North Riverside for retail theft, and a third was out of Cook County for pot possession.

Tattoo-inflamed rage, then an escape into the night

Police came to the 6700 block of Stanley to speak to a 17-year-old Berwyn woman. The woman said her 31-year-old ex-boyfriend reacted unpleasantly to the sight of her new tattoo, which consisted of her current flame’s name. The victim said he choked her, ripped her shirt and pulled out some of her hair. The man was no longer present when police arrived. The victim signed a domestic battery complaint.

Wanted man lurks in front of woman’s home

A woman in the 1900 block of Kenilworth called police to say her ex-boyfriend was standing in front of her home, despite an order of protection. Police checked but could find no record of an order of protection. However, a check of the man’s name showed he did have an active arrest warrant out of Cook County for domestic battery, with $100,000 bond. He was arrested and processed for deputies.

Lawn-care dispute ends in arrest

Police came to the 6500 block of 26th, where a 36-year-old man told them he slapped his girlfriend but she started it. Police found the woman crying on the kitchen floor with an injured face. The victim told police they were arguing over cutting the lawn when the man struck her; a woman witness agreed with her version of events. The man was charged with domestic battery.
Woman-beater flees scene of attack

A Cicero woman met with police at a house in the 1500 block of Grove and said her boyfriend had beaten her up. The victim had an injured nose and blood on her face and clothing. She signed a complaint against the 34-year-old offender, a resident of the block, who reportedly fled out the rear of the house before police arrived. When police ran his name, they discovered he has an extensive history of violence, including a conviction and jail time for domestic battery in 2004.

Wanted man charged with domestic battery

A Chicago woman told police her boyfriend hit her during an argument in the 3100 block of Oak Park Ave. She told police she wanted a ride home but the 23-year-old man would not let her go; she said he grabbed her arm and smacked her in the face, leaving her with a mark on her arm and bleeding from her mouth. The boyfriend agreed that there was an argument, but said the woman was the aggressor. However, he was unable to explain how her mouth came to be bleeding. A check of the man’s name showed he was wanted by the Illinois State Police. He was arrested, charged with domestic battery and processed for the state police warrant.

Spectacle-snatching boyfriend charged

A Berwyn woman told police she had an argument with her boyfriend, a 25-year-old resident of the 200 block of Grove. The victim said the man forcefully snatched her eyeglasses off her face, then grabbed her purse and fled to the alley behind his apartment building. Police recovered the victim’s purse, but her cell phone and eyeglasses were still missing. The man was arrested and charged with theft and domestic battery.

Beer chat escalates into battery

A man was arrested in the 3400 block of Wesley, to which he fled in a white Cadillac following an altercation in the 1300 block of Lombard. The 25-year-old man had reportedly been sitting on the porch drinking beer with a older family member. Once in booking at the Berwyn police station, police said, the accused man referred to the victim as a “loser” who brought the battery upon himself by “talking s@%t”. The younger man was charged with domestic battery.

Husband banished to garage to think it over

A domestic disturbance brought police to the 1800 block of Gunderson, where a 43-year-old woman told them her husband showed up drunk and slapped her. The husband agreed to spend the night in the garage.
Smacked over the head with a cooking pot

Police intervened in an altercation between a man and a woman in the 2600 block of Ridgeland. The victim, a 23-year-old man, said his girlfriend got mad, hit him in the back of the head, then struck his in the forehead with a cooking pot. There was quite a bit of blood on the floor. The woman was charged with domestic battery.

Blood’s pretty messy, too

A 46-year-old woman in the 1900 block of Euclid told police she was angry with her 51-year-old boyfriend “for being messy”. Before calling police, the woman said, they had an argument during which she put her hand through a glass window in a fit of anger. The responding officer observed blood splattered on the floors of the living room, kitchen and hall. The woman also claimed the man tried to strangle her, and stated she had consumed a pint of whiskey and a few beers. The woman, whose speech was slurred and erratic, showed no injuries consonant with a strangling—just the self-inflicted hand wounds. The boyfriend told police she “usually” does this when she drinks. Both parties agreed to go to different rooms for the night.

Drunk’s fall signals party’s end

In the 2200 block of East, a family party came to an end when one guest wore out his welcome. A drunken 41-year-old man fell, injuring his nose. An ambulance took him to the hospital for treatment, and police advised the remaining partiers to call it a night.

A woman in the 2400 block of Clarence said her husband, from whom she is separated, punched her in the chest and face, then choked her and fled. She signed a complaint of domestic battery against the man, who is reportedly living in the 3500 block of west 12th Place, Chicago.

A man in the 1600 block of Ridgeland was charged with two counts of domestic battery. One female victim said he dragged her around the apartment slamming her head into furniture and walls. The other said he grabbed her and twisted her arms, leaving scratches.

TV channel-changing dispute ends in arrest

A woman in the 1500 block of Gunderson told police her boyfriend got mad at her for changing the channel on the TV, so he grabbed the remote and pushed her. They began to argue and the next thing she knew, her cousin—a man from the 2700 block of Clarence—was pounding on their front door. The door was damaged during the incident. The boyfriend’s version: the woman started the argument and threatened to damage his TV. The cousin’s take: he heard the argument and tried to force his way in to protect the woman. A check of the 29-year-old boyfriend’s name revealed an active Melrose Park police department warrant for battery; he was arrested for both offenses.
