A man from the 1600 block of Scoville told police a guy stood on his front porch for half an hour at 5:30 AM, continuously ringing the doorbell. He said the stranger also pounded loudly on the door and windows, and rang him on his home phone. Finally, he said, the stranger removed mail from his mailbox and threw it onto the front steps. The complainant said he suspects the man is a process server from a Chicago law firm.
Party goes til dawn; hit-and-run last straw for neighbors

Callers reported a hit and run accident in the 2700 block of Wesley. Witnesses met with police, stating they heard a loud noise and came outside in time to see a white vehicle speeding away, leaving considerable damage to a parked Dodge van. Neighbors told the officers they believe the van was driven by someone coming from an extremely late (or early) party on the block. The owner of the party house was advised to keep the noise down.

Halloween tricks spoil display

A woman in the 2500 block of Scoville reported someone stole some of her Halloween decorations and left others damaged.

Where she’s not supposed to be

A woman forbidden by an order of protection to be on that property was spotted looking out a window of the building in the 1800 block of Kenilworth. Police came, found her and arrested her for the violation.
Two more women allege fondling by doctor

A 37-year-old Cicero woman told police she went to Ricardo Arze, a doctor with an office in the 6900 block of Cermak, four or five times, the last time about a year ago. She said he locked the door of the exam room and fondled her. She also said there were no records of her visit, as she always paid in cash, and that she did not know why she never told anyone of the fondling before.

A 22-year-old Chicago woman told police Arze fondled and spoke inappropriately to her during three or four visits to his office in 2004.

Fondling-case accuser list grows again

A 41-year-old Cicero woman told Berwyn police she had made six visits to Ricardo Arze at his medical office in the 6900 block of Cermak, and had complained to his staff of the doctor’s arousal during examinations. Arze has been charged with fondling and other inappropriate behavior with a number of patients:
Child lost at Houby Fest is returned to mom

A nine-year-old boy at Houby Fest approached police at Cermak and Elmwood to tell them he was lost. An officer drove the child home to an apartment in the 1800 block of Oak Park and turned him over to his 22-year-old mother.
Oak Park man hospitalized after bike accident

Witnesses saw a man fall off his bicycle near 16th and Maple for no apparent reason. He was found intoxicated and with a head injury after the fall. Clifford D. Drewek, 50, of Oak Park, was taken to MacNeal Hospital for treatment.

Another complainant comes forward in fondling case against doctor

A Burbank woman told police she saw a news report about Ricardo Arze, the doctor accused of inappropriately touching patients in his Cermak Rd. office; she wanted to add her name to the growing list of alleged victims.
Officer injured in tussle with offender

A man freaked out in the 7/11 in the 6600 block of 16th, screaming at customers and throwing things, according to the manager, who pointed the offender out to police. The man was about 50 feet away from the store. Police recognized the 40-year-old bipolar man. When they called to him, the man screamed and lunged at police, who had to use the Taser twice in order to get him handcuffed. One detective got a knee injury during the struggle. Pending his release from a hospital evaluation, the man was to be charged with battery, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct.

Cigarettes-to-minors sting trips up three more stores

A 16-year-old minor, hired by Berwyn police, entered 23 city stores to try to buy cigarettes. In each purchase, the teen produced a valid Illinois license showing a birthdate of 1991. Clerks at three stores sold cigarettes to the minor, and were cited for it. The stores were in the 6300 and 6500 blocks of Cermak, and in the 1400 block of Kenilworth.

Chicken in custody, wanted man still at large

Cicero police called Berwyn, asking that they pick up a man wanted for questioning. The man, a 36-year-old from the 1300 block of Maple, also had an active Berwyn arrest warrant. Three officers came to the house and spoke to the man’s older brother. Though the brother allowed police to look around the property for the wanted man, he was uncooperative when questioned. Police did not find the man they sought, but did notice the brother had a chicken running around in his backyard. The chicken was taken into custody. Ramon Guerrero, 44, was cited for harboring illegal farm animals.

Mail theft alleged, egging reported

A man from the 2800 block of Ridgeland told police his car had been egged. He also reported finding open mail lying nearby the car, and suspects someone is breaking into nearby mailboxes.

Feud blamed for fence damage

A man in the 2900 block of Oak Park told police he saw his next-door neighbor kick his landscaping fence, throw it in an alley, and damage his wife’s flower bed. The victim said he thought it happened because the building department told the neighbor his fence was illegally attached to that of the victim.

Mask, gloves & bolt-cutters

Callers complained about people drinking and congregating in the 6400 block of Cermak. Responding officers approached a car in that block; one occupant, a 27-year-old man, saw them and threw something to the floor of the car. Officers looked through a car window and saw two 750 ML bottles of Cuervo tequila; one 1.75 litre bottle of Crown Royal, and eight cartons of cigarettes. Also in the car were: a black mask; a black-and-white bandanna; a pair of cloth gloves, and a pair of red bolt-cutters. A woman walked up to the car and said she was with the two men inside. Police interviewed the woman and two men separately, and got three different stories for why they were at that location. One man had previous burglary convictions. All three were taken into custody.
