Gang graffiti on garages, van

Someone put gang graffiti on a fence and two garages in the 2300 block of Home and on a garage in the 2300 block of Clinton.

Gang graffiti was found on a white Chevy work van parked in the 2200 block of Ridgeland.

Gang signs flashed from suspicious vehicle

A 20-year-old Cicero man told police he saw two male Hispanics, ages 18-20, in a red Chevy minivan, who flashed gang signs at him as he drove near 18th and Harvey. The victim said he was trying to flee but the minivan rammed his Buick sedan, pushed it 90 degrees and pinned it against the curb. He said the minivan backed into into the Buick 2 or 3 times, then one of the men got out and threw a large rock at the sedan. The Buick, police saw, was severely damaged. Police issued a flash message describing the offending vehicle to other departments.

Drugs recovered from joint-sharing pair

An officer in the 1600 block of Wisconsin saw two men wearing the colors of a well-known street gang, sharing a single cigarette. When they saw the officer approaching, they dropped it. A strong odor of burnt marijuana hung in the air around them. They were arrested and the officer confiscated the joint. Searches of the men recovered additional marijuana in a clear bag. Marijuana possession tickets were issued to Luis Sanchez, 23, and Jovanie Carillo, 22, both of the 1600 block of Wisconsin.

Someone used gold paint to place large gang graffiti on two garages in the 1300 block of Oak Park. More gang graffiti was found nearby on a stop sign.

In the 2400 block of Kenilworth, someone used black marker to draw extensive gang graffiti on a garage door.

Graffiti on buildings, vehicles, dumpsters

A caller reported graffiti in white and black spray paint was found on six work trucks and one dumpster in the rear parking lot of the 6600 block of 26th. At the scene, police found lids from two spray paint cans, and were able to lift fingerprints.

Gang graffiti in gold was placed on a garage door in the 3600 block of Home.

Gang graffiti was painted on a brick wall and on a dumpster in the 6900 block of Ogden; more gold gang graffiti was found on a wall in the 3600 block of Clinton.

Police were sent to Guadalajara restaurant, Ogden and Harlem, where they found a 22-year-old man with blood all over his face and shirt. The man, a resident of the 3600 block of Scoville, tried to enter the bar but was denied entry because 2) he had already reached a state of intoxication and b) he was bleeding from a cut on his head. When questioned by police, the victim stated he was approached by “1 to 4” male Hispanics in the parking lot, who asked him, “Who you run with?”, then punched him in the face. No witnesses saw anything. The victim said “at least one” of the offenders had a shaved head.

Loiterers’ presence draws police; weed confiscated

Gang task force officers checking an area known to attract members of a well-known street gang came to the 1200 block of Clarence and found four known members of said gang, loitering in front of the home of one of them. During the ensuing patdowns, police recovered a bag containing 1 gram of cannabis from 21-year-old Jose Rios; he received a $100 pot possession ticket.

Gang attempts to slight other gang via graffiti on brick wall

Didn’t get home before the po-po scoped ‘em

Tactical officers noticed a Mercury Grand Marquis parked—illegally—in the alley of the 2500 block of Ridgeland/Cuyler. Three men were in the car, with one more standing outside it, so the cops called for backup. All of the men were ordered out of the car because two were known gang members—one was even wearing “gang colors”. All the windows of the Merc were down and a strong odor of pot smoke drifted out. Inside the car, police located 3.3 grams of marijuana. All four men were arrested and given $175 pot possession tickets. They were: driver Manuel Garcia, 19, of the 1600 block of East; 26-year-old Juan P. Garcia, same address; Antonio Guerrero, 19, of th 1900 block of Wenonah; and Pedro Garibay, 20, of the 2500 block of Ridgeland.

In the 6900 block of Windsor, a concrete bench outside the front door of the Fillmore Center was found broken by persons unknown. The same building also had gang graffiti on its alley-side brick wall.
