Woman with history of going off on people cited for disorderly conduct

August 16, 2007, 11:26 AM
A woman in the 1800 block of Kenilworth was with a 9 and 10-year-old child in her front yard, talking with a neighbor, when another neighbor came outside screaming and calling her a whore.  The problem, the victim said, has been ongoing.  Police spoke with the offender, who said she was not yelling “whore” at the children, but at a different neighbor a few doors down.  She was charged with disorderly conduct for abusive and obscene language.  The hearing date is September 13 at 3 PM in the Community Room of the police station.

Pre-dawn gunshots intended to scare brother, police told

August 12, 2007, 4:40 AM
Following several gunshots – two inside an apartment at 34th and Kenilworth, then more outside the building—police found and arrested Juan Frausto, 23, of the 3700 block of Wesley, who initially fled the scene in his Pontiac Grand Am.
Witnesses stated Juan fired multiple shots at his 28-year-old brother Norberto Frausto, using a large silver-colored gun.  Nobody was injured, but police saw two large holes in the apartment ceiling, and found a shell casing nearby.
Based on the reports of witnesses and a statement signed by Juan Frausto, events unfolded as follows: Juan, Norberto and a man witnesses called “Ray” had been drinking together at a strip joint.  They left in Juan’s car, and “Ray” threw up.  Juan stated that Norberto became angry, yelled at Juan and choked him. Juan pulled over on Harlem.  Norberto chose to walk back to the apartment he shared with his mom at 34th and Kenilworth. Juan drove home, got his 9MM Taurus handgun, and reached mom’s place ahead of his brother.  Witnesses said he “ranted” about shooting Norberto, while he waved the gun in the air and fired two shots indoors.  When Norberto could be heard outside, witnesses said Juan ran outside, fired three more times, then fled.
According to Juan, he fired shots merely to “scare” his brother.  He insisted repeatedly that “if I wanted to shoot him I would have because I’m a good shot and I go to the range all the time.”
Juan Frausto was charge with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of reckless discharge of a firearm.

All my identities despise your laws

April 15, 2007, 10:25 AM

One warrant was for a Kane County burglary; the other for driving on a suspended license in DeKalb County.

Police arrest foul-mouthed, aggressive woman at Inclusive nightclub

April 15, 2007, 2:05 AM
An officer was flagged down by a guard from Inclusive nightclub, 6317 Roosevelt Rd. He pointed out a man who had picked up a security guard’s radio and, the guard said, would not return it.  The man was still standing in front of the club, wearing a blue hoody. After speaking with police, the man returned the radio.  While at the scene, an officer suggested several times that a disruptive Chicago woman should leave. The woman, age 27, was very loud; she yelled obscenities at all officers on the scene, bumped one of them in an aggressive manner, and was arrested.  At the station, the woman gave a false name; she was ultimately identified through her fingerprints.  She turned out to have an active warrant from Lake County. The woman was charged with disorderly conduct and attempted obstruction of justice; bond was set at $40,000.
Later in the day: booking officers said the prisoner was behaving irrationally in her cell.  After receiving her meal, she screamed at police and threw her food, some of which hit a computer monitor and some an officer’s shirt.  Next, she made a gesture as if hanging herself with her blanket.  Because of this, she was taken to MacNeal hospital for evaluation.

Family searches for lost dog, not even aware of lost baby

April 9, 2007, 6:15 PM
Police got a call about an unsupervised toddler who was nearly hit by a car in the intersection of 35th and Ridgeland.  A woman witness said she saw a large yellow dog run eastbound through that intersection, followed by a very little boy.  The woman grabbed him and began to walk him down the block in an effort to find his house or a parent.  She tried speaking to the child in both Spanish and English but he would not answer.  The child wore no jacket and his skin was cold to the touch.  The responding officer put a Berwyn Police Department jacket on the child to warm him.  The officer walked up and down the 3400 block of Ridgeland with the child. No luck until a concerned citizen came up and said he had seen the child all alone in the alley more than once in the past, and believed he lived in a house on Elmwood.  The officer went via alley to that house.  There, a female was holding a plate of food in the backyard of the house.  The officer asked her whether she was the mom or knew the mom.  She went inside and returned with another woman.  When the toddler saw her, he said “Mommy!” The officer told the woman what happened.  Her explanation was that she was changing another child’s diaper when the dog ran out the door; she said she supposed her two-year-old son ran out after the dog.  The whole family apparently knew the dog was missing but not the child.  The officer asked the mom why her teenage brother was out looking for the dog but nobody was looking for the two-year-old.  The woman said she was putting on shoes and jacket to look for him when the officer arrived with him. The officer then asked if she called 911 when she saw her son was gone; she said no.  Once more, the officer asked why the woman’s 17-year-old brother was out looking for the dog rather than the two-year-old, if she knew the baby was missing as she had stated.  She was silent.  A juvenile detective arrived on the scene.  The woman was issued a local ordinance ticket for lack of exercise of parental responsibility; DCFS will investigate the matter.

The owner of a white 1998 Suburban says he lent the truck to a Chicago man he knows as Jose.  He trusted Jose because Jose lives with the Suburban-owner’s uncle.  Jose asked for the truck to go pick up his wife somewhere.  But today, Uncle called to say his apartment had been robbed and his stereo taken.  The Suburban has not returned, and its owner tried phoning Jose without success. Next step:  check with Chicago police to see if the Suburban has turned up.

Mugger attacks woman in alley by barbershop at 16th and Ridgeland

April 6, 10:57 PM
A 39-year-old Berwyn woman was walking on the north sidewalk in the 6400 block of 16th near Ridgeland, when a man emerged from the alley by Ace of Fades barbershop and grabbed her purse.  He tried to pull her into the alley. She resisted and asked him not to hurt her.  He responded, “Shut up, bitch,” and punched her in the chest.  The victim fell and he ran off with her purse, heading north on Elmwood from 16th.  The purse contained her cellphone, credit cards and a small amount of cash.  The woman says she has seen the man in this area before and can identify him if he is caught.  She described him as a black male in his 30s, 5’ 10” to 6 feet tall, muscular, with a light complexion; wearing a white hooded jacket with a gold or yellow design or writing; blue jeans, and dark boots with a rounded toe. The woman assisted police in creating a composite image of her attacker.
NEXT MORNING, April 7, 6:30 AM, a man called police to say he had found the victim’s IDs, credit cards and checkbook scattered in the street and sidewalk of the 1600 block of Grove.  The property was returned to the victim.  She found two checks missing from her checkbook; also missing were her debit card, Social Security card and state ID card.

Woman wanted on prostitution rap comes equipped with crack, weed

April 2, 6:24 PM
An officer in the alley behind the 6200 block of Ogden saw a green Chevy pickup occupied by a woman while a man rummaged nearby in trash bins.  The man, 54-year-old Robert Ruzic of Downers Grove, said he was “junking” and had done so for three years.  However, he could not produce a Berwyn permit to collect refuse.  The woman passenger said her name was “Amy Liston”.  The officer could see a metal drug pipe in plain view on the front seat beside her, so he made “Amy”get out; he then recovered the pipe. The officer arrested her and told her to remove her shoes and turn her socks inside out.  When she did, three clear packets of a white chunky substance fell from her left sock.  At this, “Amy” took off running but was caught after a short foot chase A second officer arrived and she became combative; they had to stun her with a Taser to place her in custody.  When “Amy” was removed from the squadrol, an officer noticed marijuana scattered on the seat where she had been. Closer examination revealed a clear packet of crack cocaine tucked between the metal grid and glass of the cage.  The squadrol was taken out of service and the watch commander removed the drug bag.  “Amy” was finally identified as Anne Jesuit.  She had an active prostitution warrant from Cook County.  The substance in her sock and in the wagon tested positive for cocaine. Ruzic got a ticket for trashpicking without a permit; Anne Jesuit was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession.
