In which someone disturbs the peace by making way too much noise in violation of Berwyn's local noise ordinance. The basic fine is $500 dollars.

A 20-year-old man driving a beige 2006 Passat told police he was sorry for his too-loud sound system after he was stopped in the 6400 block of Cermak. The Passat was impounded and the offender ticketed.

Driving while loud

An officer pulled over a noise-ordinance violator at 19th and Highland. Bernardo Hernandez, 22, of Cicero, got a ticket and had his car impounded. A custodial search of the car revealed an amp and subwoofer in the trunk

A Palos Hills man with no insurance had his white 2004 Chevy Suburban impounded for violating the noise ordinance. As 32-year-old Fidel Rocha sped west on Cermak, the officer could hear his sound system from 100 feet away.

Forced listening blissfully over for a time

A 1999 Jeep forced its driver’s idea of music on everyone within 100 feet of 26th and Oak Park. A large speakerbox was found in the rear of the vehicle. It was impounded, and the 23-year-old man driving – a resident of the 1400 block of Grove – received a noise violation ticket.

An officer in the 1500 block of Home could hear a 1998 Pontiac from 75 feet away, and continued to hear it as the distance increased. The Pontiac was impounded, though Cicero driver Joel Martinez, 31, told the officer in broken English that he did not think the music was that loud.
Noisy Ford removed from street

People 125 feet away were forced to hear the sound system of a red 2000 Ford sedan as it drove in the 6300 block of Cermak. The driver, 25-year-old Jorge Guerrero of Cicero, was ticketed for driving on a suspended license and for violating the noise ordinance. The Ford and its noisemaking system were impounded.
Cadillac less impressive when impounded

A white 2002 Cadillac Deville in the 6400 block of Cermak not only had a driver without a seatbelt; it also had a sound system that could be heard 200 feet away. The driver, a 33-year-old man from the 2100 block of Maple, had a revoked driver’s license. He got a ticket for driving in spite of that. The Caddy was impounded pending payment of the $500 fee.
Volkswagen irritates with loud sounds

A police officer could hear a 2001 Volkswagen 100 feet away, and stopped it at 27th and Oak Park. The driver, a man from the 2700 block of Clarence, was ticketed and his car impounded.

Louder than a hum

An officer heard a far-too-loud black 2003 Hummer at 26th and Oak Park. The driver, 25-year-old Fernando Cabanas of North Riverside, was cited for not wearing a seatbelt, driving on a suspended license, and violating Berwyn’s local noise ordinance. The Hummer was impounded.

Three more $500 noise fines collected

A 2001 4-door Kia, stopped by police in the 7000 block of Cermak, was impounded for violating the noise ordinance. The $500 ticket was awarded to a 23-year-old man from the 1900 block of Gunderson. In the same location, another Berwyn man was relieved of his 2000 Jeep Cherokee for the same offense; the ticket went to another 23-year-old man, from the 3700 block of Highland. And a red Neon was stopped for driving while loud at Cermak and Home. The driver, Jesus H. Haro of Milwaukee, told police it was his cousin’s car, which did not prevent the Neon being towed and the fine imposed.
Lyons man fined for noisy truck

A Chevy truck was stopped at 30th and Oak Park Avenue because police could hear it over 100 feet away. The driver, 27-year-old Ernesto Uribe of Lyons, was ticketed for driving without a license or insurance and the truck was towed pending payment of the $500 fine.
Loud car towed out of north end

A blue 2001 Chevy Tahoe was too loud, so it was pulled over at 14th and Gunderson. Driver Marco P. Vallodolid, 23, of Cicero, was given the $500 noise ordinance ticket and the truck was impounded.
Sound system continues to cost driver money

A 2005 Chevy truck at Cermak and Home could be heard more than 75 feet away and was impounded. The noise ordinance ticket went to a 21-year-old man from the 6400 block of 34th. A custodial search of the truck showed a modified amp/subwoofer under the back seat.

Loud car contains recent Tecate spill

An officer monitoring traffic near Pershing School, 3701 Scoville, at dismissal time heard loud, amplified bass coming from a black SUV. The driver, a 25-year-old man from the 3700 block of Clarence, had the noise ordinance explained to him. During the inventory search of the impounded vehicle, a strong odor of beer was evident near the driver’s seat. Police observed a foaming liquid on the driver’s floor mat, and an empty but still cold can of Tecate beer in the pocket beside the seat. The driver was cited for the noise ordinance violation and for driving in possession of open alcohol.

Berwyn impounded 35 cars during the month of April for violating the local ordinance that prohibits noise heard over 75 feet away, thus earning $17,500 for the city.
